The Temperance Movement – Leeds Met - 28 April 2014
Occasionally you are lucky enough to catch a gig that is
very special, a night where a band are on top form and clearly destined for
great things. Tonight was one of those nights from the first few bars of Ain’t No Telling I was hooked, singer Phil Campbell strutted across the stage
like a very over excited Mick Jagger with
a great rock n roll voice.
This band have some light and shade in their songs, great
jump around, sing along songs like Take it Back and Only Friend are complimented by more reserved, but equally
engaging songs like Smouldering and the haunting
Chinese Lanterns. The new songs dropped into the set also seemed up to this
high standard.
Know for Sure brought the main set to an end before the band
were brought back to the stage by the chanting of the Leeds crowd. We were then
treated to a great rendition of Pride before the hectic Midnight Black brought the
evening to a close.
A great show and, a great band, that must be destined for
very big things.
